I am not ashamed to admit that I find this video very amusing.

For as much shit as he gets…you can’t deny that guy could fucking paint. ;)

Artist Highlight: Cibo Matto!

The song above is a remix (and probably THE BEST I’ve ever come across) of a Nirvana song called “About A Girl.” No bleeps, no techno, no dubstep, or reverb- just a good old fashioned reinterpretation of this classic Nirvana song into a wonderful genre bender. Catchy as shit and wonderfully arranged, I cannot urge you enough, to at least give this a try.

About Cibo Matto:

I’ve listened to this band for years and years. You probably haven’t heard of them if you’re under a certain age as they are from the 90’s and they weren’t insanely popular either, though they did have a decent following. But you might’ve heard their music. It’s a hard style to describe but one that I’ve always been drawn to and immensely enjoyed. Although, admittedly it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

The band started out consisting of Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda, two chicks from Japan based out of New York City. (You might recognize Miho Hatori’s voice. Why? Because she is the voice of Noodle from the Gorillaz!) They’re style is hard to describe because they blend elements from various genres of music together. It’s probably best to just listen for yourself. Apparently they are getting back together so what a great time to become familiar with this awesome group. Maybe you can catch a show! ;)

I will try to make a post about these groups later…maybe. For now…just a peak.

enjoy! ;)

Ok, so I thought I would highlight a new (for me) artist I found, well technically two. I was browsing through tumblr and found a link to this remix, which blew my mind. I’m not always a fan of dubstep, it can become very repetitive after awhile, but this remix of Amy Kuney’s “Sway” by Butch Clancy is just unbelievable. The original song (link below) is equally amazing but with a completely different feel. And that’s what makes me so happy- that these two very different styles somehow managed to merge into this really enthralling song (imo).

I know it’s not for everyone, but I thought I’d share anyway. Do yourself a favor and at least try out both versions, you never know what you might end up liking. ;)

Enjoy…..hopefully.

So here’s the original song by Amy Kuney:

Also here is her website: http://www.amykuney.com/

I highly recommend listening to her other stuff, it’s honest and playful and dark and wonderful.

Butch Clancy’s website: http://soundcloud.com/butchclancy

I’ve really enjoyed his stuff. He has the wonderful ability to take work from wildly different genres and make them his own. Very talented guy (imo). Check him out too. And if you enjoyed the remix above, you should know that he’s done several remixes of Amy Kuney’s songs and they can be easily found on youtube.
